13-15 October in Zurich
The annual conference was organised Schwulengeschichte Schweiz together with Fachverband Homosexualität und Geschichte (FGH). The event began on Friday with an exchange about current developments at the QueerSearch member institutions after which board member Janika Seitz presented her master’s thesis on the state of metadata collection in German-language queer archives.
On Saturday, institutions presented their holdings, with a focus on little-explored materials. This was followed by lively discussions about how historians and other researchers use LGBTIQ archives. This was followed by presentations of FGH members on their exciting research projects. This included female same-sex lives in southwest Germany during the Nazi era, the prison diary of Jakob Stutz, lesbian history in Switzerland, a travelling exhibition on queer people in Nazi Germany, and the biography of J.R. Forster. On Sunday the QueerSearch general meeting took place and the meeting ended with a queer city tour of Zurich.
